Sydney, volume 1

The office organized a ladies day out trip to Sydney last weekend and I decided that would be the perfect opportunity to take Mom and get some sightseeing (and shopping) in.  We all met and boarded the bus very, very early.  So early in fact that the sun had not yet come up.  Since I am never up that early, I got some amazing pictures of the Parliament building.

On the way up to Sydney, we watched Magic Mike.  Not much of a story line, but who doesn't like seeing Channing Tatum without a shirt on?  The organizer of the trip was very worried that mom would be offended but I think she didn't really care.  I was not expecting much from the movie so I was not really disappointed because the only thing it really had going for it was the hot guy factor.

At any rate, when we arrived in Sydney, we realized that they dropped us off right down at Darling Harbor!  So we walked over to the Harbor Bridge but unfortunately, we were WAAYYYY to close to get a good picture.  We were not too close however to get pictures of the Opera House.

This was an old building down in The Rocks area of Sydney.

This was a three sided display carved out of stone.  This side was called "The Soldier"

This windmill was down in the Rocks area and they had a deal where you could mill your own flour and take it home.  It was kind of cool!

We did heaps of shopping at little shops in The Rocks and once we made our way over there, at Paddy's Market as well.  We saw a Falun Gong protest and some interesting street performers who played empty beer bottles and a bucket.  All in all, it was a great day!!  On the way home, we watched Pitch Perfect which was hilarious and got home at a decent hour.  It was a fun day and we plan to go back to Sydney again before mom heads home.
