2013 in review

Its official, 2013 is over and done (or as they say here, it is done and dusted).  As I pause to do a brief check of the past year it is almost unbelievable.  I moved to a foreign country, I traveled some, I learned about new cultures and I ate some weird food along the way.  Here is a brief re-cap of the highlights:

Arrived in Canberra on a bright January morning!

Waitangi Day celebrations at the NZHC in February

KITTIES ARRIVED!!!

Canberra's Centenary Celebrations-March

Mom came to visit-April-June

I got *this* close to a kangaroo

Happy 4th of July from Australia!!

Windows on the World at the Thai Embassy

Learning how to throw a boomerang in the Northern Territory

Uluru

Guinness World Record for Christmas lights-right here in Canberra!

So as I cap off another year, I continued our tradition of going to a movie on New Years Eve (there isnt a whole lot to do in Canberra...well, ever really).  We usually go to the last show of the evening which at home is about 10:30 or 11 pm.  In Canberra?  The last show begins at 6:40.  Thats right, 6:40.  So the movie got out around 8:45.  As I drove home, I got to catch some of the sad little fireworks they had for the "family friendly" celebration at 9 pm.  Then I got home and watched the fireworks from Sydney on the telly and talked to my BFF from high school till we were in two different years!!!  :D  It was uneventful but it was nice.  At least it was a balmy 88 degrees here so I was able to enjoy activities without bundling up.  That's one down, two to go!!
